UserData.dll Update:
Roaming Profiles—Invalid Configuration Path Error

This UserData.dll file is provided to resolve a configuration-path error that occurs if you are running an AutoCAD 2004-based product on a network that has roaming profiles enabled, and you log on to a second computer to run the product.

If roaming profiles are enabled on your network, your roaming profiles are located in your C:\Documents and Settings\<user login name>\Application Data\Autodesk\<AutoCAD 2004-based product> folder.

Description of Problem

The problem occurs when you use an AutoCAD 2004-based product on one computer, log off of that computer, log on to a second computer, and then attempt to run the product on the second computer. An error message reports that your product is unable to find the CFG file, and the product does not run on the second computer.

The error message reads:

FATAL ERROR: Invalid Configuration path\filename: C:\Documents and Settings\<user login name>\Local Settings\Application Data\Autodesk\<AutoCAD 2004-based product>\<product release version>\enu\

Affected Products

If your network has roaming profiles enabled, the problem affects any of the following AutoCAD 2004-based products:

Installation

After you download this file, update the UserData.dll file on each computer that is affected by this error.

To update the UserData.dll file

  1. Locate the UserData.dll file that is located in your installation folder. For example: C:\Program Files\Autodesk\<AutoCAD 2004-based product>\UserData.dll.
  2. Back up the original UserData.dll file by renaming the file UserData.dll_old.
  3. Navigate to the location where you downloaded the updated UserData.dll file, and copy that file.
  4. Paste the updated UserData.dll file into the same installation folder as step 1. In that folder, you should now have the new file, named UserData.dll, and the old file, named UserData.dll_old.
  5. Launch the AutoCAD 2004-based product. Before the product starts, a progress bar indicates that files are being updated. When the files have been updated, the product starts.
  6. Close any open applications, and then log off your computer. Your profiles are not saved to the server until you log off.
  7. Log back on to the computer. It may take a few minutes for your profiles to be updated.
  8. After the profiles are updated, launch the AutoCAD 2004-based product.

The roaming profile data has now been updated, and you can run the product on a second computer.
